First, you will need to download the current version of Ubuntu Server. A 64 bit version is recommended, but you can also download a 32bit version from http://releases.ubuntu.com/. Once downloaded you need to create a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash.
Once done, put the disc in your drive, or insert the USB flash, and reboot your machine. Make sure that you set your BIOS to boot either from the CD/DVD or USB flash depending on which installation method you choose.
Once booted, just follow the steps shown in the images below.
On the first screen you can choose you language of install.
Select Install Ubuntu Server.
Select the language used for the installation process.

Mitch♦MitchSome more details about the other options in the first Step.
First, this menu also offers you an option to Check disc for defects. Although I'm sure you've done well in creating your media, all it takes is for a smallcorruption in the download or with the dd command and you would end upwith invalid media. This is extremely rare—but it does happen from time totime. If you have the extra time, it may make sense to verify your media.
This menu gives you the option to Test memory. This is an optionI've found myself using far more often than I'd like to admit. DefectiveRAM on computers and servers is surprisingly common and can cause allkinds of strange things to happen. For one, defective RAM may cause yourinstallation to fail. Worse, your installation could also succeed—and I saythat's worse due to the fact you'd find out about problems later rather thanright away. While doing a memory test can add considerable time to theinstallation process, I definitely recommend it, especially if the hardware isnew and hasn't ever been tested at all. In fact, I make it a process to test theRAM of all my servers once or twice a year, so this media can be used as amemory tester any time you need one.

Greetings,
First, I am a dentist that is not computer literate.
This is what I want to do:
I want to create a network that is accessible by a few (less than 10) others at different locations.
On this network will be one open source dental practice management program and OpenOffice and what ever other software is required to make this happen.
Why?, you might ask...
We are a collection of volunteer healthcare providers that treat a population of student athletes.
The student athletes may be seen at any or all provider locations, therefore limiting the access to information.
Creating a location where the info is held and having everyone access this location is a better solution.
I have been told that 'this is easy'.
'Just create a Citrix server and let the others have access to it.'
However, no one suggested how to do this.
So,
How can I do this?
I might add, how can we do this inexpensively as we are all volunteers.
Thank you.
Cheers!!
