This team of authors put out a well-organized, relatively affordable, and balanced account of modern US history. It explains different political perspectives fairly well rather than obviously taking sides. I appreciated the chronological organization, unlike some texts that are so thematically-driven that they can make the chronology harder to understand. It could have been stronger on religious history, but overall it was a good textbook for the course I taught this semester.

Only history textbook to catch my attention, even if only for a little while.
Really makes history come to life-I enjoyed learning things that I was not taught in US history-if you need a refresher or just love history this is a great book to read.
