They buttons on the remotes are pretty basic, some of the buttons are for your X1 box and others are for devices you program. You have the basics such as Volume, Channel, Mute which are pretty self explanatory. Then you also have the buttons for watching shows such as Play/Pause, FF and Rew. There are, however, a few that are a little different.

  • TV Power and Alt Power – These are for your TV and devices you program, the X1 box must remain on at all times.

  • A – On X1 DVRs it lets you access the help menu
  • B – shows a scaled video in the bottom right corner when the guide is displayed
  • C – Uses the Sports App to follow all the games
  • D – Delete DVR recordings

Programming the TV

  1. Locate the code for your television manufacturer on the Comcast Remote Control User Guide
  2. Ensure that your set-top box is on and turn the TV on
  3. Press the Setup button for three seconds, or until the light at the top of the remote changes from red to green.
  4. Enter the manufacturers code that you found earlier and the light should flash twice.
  5. Press the TV Power button.

If the TV turns off then the programming was successful, if not then repeat the steps using the next code for your manufacturer.

If you have used all the codes for your TV and it still doesn’t work then you will need to make the remote find the correct code by following the steps below;

  1. Ensure that your set-top box is on and turn the TV on
  2. Press the Setup button for three seconds, or until the light at the top of the remote changes from red to green.
  3. Enter 9-9-1 and the light should flash twice
  4. Press the Channel up key repeatedly, with a one second delay between each push, until the TV turns off.
  5. Press Setup to record the code the system found
  6. Press the TV Power button to ensure the TV turns off.

Programming an Audio Device
